Installing and Initially Configuring EFW

System Requirements
Before you install the EFW software, verify that your system meets the following requirements:

One (and no more than one) configured NIC (any model) on the same network as the NICs

with factory drivers installed and operational
a.
The requirements are checked by the EFW installer before placing EFW software on your system.
b.
The installer checks for a quantity somewhat lower than this recommendation. Select the Custom installation option to see the installer
requirements for each component.
c.
The Policy Server system must not be running a copy of MySql.
d.
To host an embedded firewall, Windows 95 must be updated for Windows Socket 2 and year-2000 compliance. These updates can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/wuadmintools/s_wunetworkingtools/w95sockets2/default.asp.
CAUTION:
You must have administrative privileges to perform the installation of
any of these components on Windows 2000 or Windows NT.
NOTE:
Performance increases with additional memory, free hard drive space, and
CPU speed. To support a fully replicated, three Policy Server system, handling the
maximum of 3000 NICs requires a more powerful system. In this scenario, we
recommend a 1 GHz system.
