Menu 3 Ethernet Setup
This chapter covers how to configure your wired Local Area Network (LAN) settings.
17.1 Ethernet Setup
This section describes how to configure the Ethernet using Menu 3 — Ethernet Setup . From the
main menu, enter 3 to display menu 3.

17.1.1 General Ethernet Setup
This menu allows you to specify filter set(s) that you wish to apply to the Ethernet traffic. You
seldom need to filter Ethernet traffic; however, the filter sets may be useful to block certain
packets, reduce traffic and prevent security breaches.

If you need to define filters, please read the Filter Set Configuration section first, then return to
this menu to define the filter sets.
17.2 Protocol Dependent Ethernet Setup
Depending on the protocols for your applications, you need to configure the respective Ethernet
Setup, as outlined below.

For TCP/IP Ethernet setup refer to the Internet Access Application chapter.
♦ For bridging Ethernet setup refer to the Bridging Setup chapter .
17.3 DHCP Setup
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows individual
clients to obtain TCP/IP configuration at start-up from a server. You can configure the Prestige as
a DHCP server or disable it. When configured as a server, the Prestige provides the TCP/IP
configuration for the clients. If you turn DHCP service off, you must have another DHCP server
on your LAN, or else the computer must be manually configured.
