5.1 Grilling
WARNING!
Danger of burns.
Never touch the griddle or stone slab to test whether they have heated up
sufficiently.
CAUTION!
In order to enjoy using the stone slab for as long as possible:
Do not place frozen food or items containing vinegar such as mixed pickles,
mustard, etc. on the stone slab.
Preparing food to be grilled:
Defrost any frozen ingredients before use.
Cut your grilling ingredients, such as meat, sausage, fish and seafood, vegetables, mushrooms
or boiled potatoes into small pieces or slices. This reduces the grilling time. Plan approx. 250 g
of ingredients per person.
Dab the grilling ingredients dry before placing them on the griddle.
If you have not already done so, spread the upper surface of the griddle lightly with a fat that
is resistant to high heat, such as concentrated butter, palm fat, coconut oil or refined oils such as
rapeseed oil, soya-bean oil, sesame oil or sunflower oil. The stone slab can be used for grilling
without fat, but it may also be lightly covered with the aforementioned fats.
Grilling
1. Place the ingredients prepared for grilling on the pre-heated griddle.
2. Adjust the heat output according to your needs using the power controller.
NOTICE:
The ribbed side of the griddle can be used for grilling meat, fish or vegetables.
NOTICE:
The stone slab is suitable for keeping food warm and also grilling without fat. Depen-
ding on your tastes and your imagination, the stone slab can be used to cook food
such as vegetables and slices of meat or fish.
NOTICE: Cooking times vary with the nature of the food:
How well the food should be cooked through depends on the type of food, the
cooking time, the original temperature of the food and its thickness. If you do not
wish to eat half-cooked food, do not slice it too thickly.
The cooking time for meat or fish depends on your personal taste. Turn the grilled
food over from time to time.
3. Now you may remove your grilled food carefully from the grill. You can then add sauces
or dips to your grilled food or cook it au gratin with the raclette function (for more, see
section “6”).
CAUTION!
In order to enjoy using the griddle with its anti-stick layer for as long as possible:
Do not use sharp metallic objects such as forks, knives, etc. when turning over
or removing food, as the surface may become damaged.
Use the wooden spatulas supplied or other wooden utensils for turning over and
removing
food.
NOTICE: Avoiding fumes and burning on:
In order to stop thick fumes and excess fat, marinades, seasoning or other traces
of food from burning on, you should empty the griddle and stone slab from time
to time and give them a quick clean.
NOTICE: Saving energy with the stone slab:
The stone slab offers an even source of heat long after the device has been swit-
ched off (power controller set to “MIN” position).
