Contact with the bar tip can in
some cases cause an unex-
pected backward movement,
with the guide bar flying up-
wards towards the operator.
Kickbacks can occur if the tip of
the guide bar touches an object
or if the wood bends and the
saw chain gets caught in the
cut.
If the saw chain jams on the
top edge of the guide bar,
the bar may kick back vio-
lently towards the operator.
Such a reaction can cause you to lose control of the machine and possibly injure yourself. Do not rely solely
on the safety devices provided in the machine. As a user of this machine, there are a number of measures
you can take to prevent accidents and injuries. Kickback is caused by misuse or abuse. It can be avoided by
taking appropriate precautions as described:
•
Hold the saw firmly with both hands. Hold your body and arms so that you can resist the recoil
forces. If appropriate measures are taken, the operator can control the recoil forces. Never let go
of the machine when cutting.
•
Avoid any abnormal posture and do not cut with the bar tip, this will give you better control of
the machine in unexpected situations.
•
Always use the replacement bars and chains specified by the manufacturer.
•
Incorrect replacement bars and chains can cause the saw chain to break and/or kickback.
•
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for sharpening and maintaining the saw chain.
•
Do not saw with the tip of the blade. This may cause kickback.
•
Make sure that there are no objects on the ground that you can trip over.
Due to the structure and construction of the machine, hazardous situations may occur when handling the
machines:
DAN G ER
A safety instruction designed in this way indicates an imminently hazardous situation

Regardless of all safety regulations, your common sense and your appropriate technical aptitude/training
are and remain the most important safety factor in the error-free operation of the machine.
