2.3 Maintenance & stain table
Mechanism
To ensure that the lubrication inside the mechanism does not dry out, we recommend that
you spray the moving parts of the mechanism with with Teflon spray lube. This type of lube
is available from every DIY shop.
If a sound is heard from the mechanism during adjustment, the lubrication is likely to have
dried out as a result of high room temperatures. In such cases we recommend that you
follow the above procedure.
We advise the user, after a period of five years, to yearly check upon the chair’s safety and
maintenance.
Your Fitform ZEN Care Chair is not to be self-repaired or altered nor is it to be repaired or
altered by a non Fitform authorised dealer. In such cases, Wellco no longer accepts liability
for the chair and will decline warranty.
Upholstery
During the use of your chair it is important that you take care of the upholstery.
When your chair is upholstered in fabric
, please vacuum clean weekly and brush gently.
After this use a moist wash-leather to clean the armrests, and the top of the backrest (also
removes flakes). Clean once a year with a special fabric upholstery cleaner (dry foam) and
read the instructions carefully.
When your chair is upholstered in leather
, clean with a soft clean cloth. Use a sponge and
a wash-leather (both used for this purpose only) that is moist with decalcified warm water
and after this use a few drops of special leather oil on a moist cloth which you rub in while
making circles.
When your chiar is upholstered in an incontinence fabric
(e.g. Silvertex of Stamskin),
clean regularly with a damp cloth.
Use of medication
Certain types of medication (depending on their frequency of use), can cause secretion of
substances on the skin that may cause damage to the upholstery. For example, the top layer
of incontinence fabrics (e.g. Stamskin, Silvertex, Niroxx) may be adversely affected by this.
Upholstery on the armrest for example, may start to ‘crackle’ when sweat secreted via the
skin of the user gets left behind. This can also cause discolouration of the fabric.
To avoid cracks appearing in the upholstery caused by use of medication, it is important to
properly maintain the incontinence fabric. There are special cleaners on the market for this
purpose. Alternatively, you can regularly wipe down the upholstery with a damp cloth using
water and a mild detergent.
Stain treatment
Always remove the spilled substance with a spoon immediately, while working from the
outside of the stain towards the center.
Attention fabric:
make sure that you do not accidently press the substance into the tissue.
The moist stains need to be blotted dry with tissue first (do not rub!) and after this treat
the stain with the cleaning product that is mentioned in the stain diagram below. Repeat
the treatment 3 to 5 times and if necessary afterwards treat with lukewarm sodawater (5
spoons to 1 liter), blot dry, dampen with transparent cleaning vinegar and dry with a hair
dryer. Do not use the chair before it is completely dry.
Attention leather:
after having treated the stain as suggested in the stain diagram, use a
sponge and wash-leather to dry the spot.
Attention Silvertex incontinence fabric:
treat stains as follows:
Attention Stamskin incontinence fabric:
treat stains as follows:
Rub the Stamskin surface with a soft brush and soapy water in circular movements and
then wipe with a slightly damp clean cloth. Finally, wipe with a dry cloth.
Avoid using cleaning products that contain solvents or oils.
There is a special cleaning agent for Stamskin: Serge Ferrari
®
Cleaner 500.
You can purchase this from various online suppliers.
