Measurement of corneal curvature [KER]
To activate the keratometer mode [KER], press:

> key.
Tell the patient to fixate on the yellow light.
Align the instrument so that the 6 peripheral measuring points are
symmetrical with the circular crosshair and appear optimally focused.
The central point usually is not focused. This point is not analyzed for
keratometer measurement!
Note:
Be sure that all 6 peripheral points are visible and located in the
field between the two auxiliary circles on the display. It is advisable
to have the patient blink her/his eye shortly before the
measurement to produce an adequate tear film. This will improve
the reflectivity of the cornea. The measuring points should be
circular or ellipsoid. If the measuring points are irregular (i. e.
corneal scar) measurement is not possible.
Precise measurements are possible only if the 6 peripheral
measuring points appear optimally focused on the display.
With dry eyes, possibly the administration of a tear replacement
solution may help to obtain a correct measurement result.
Start the measurement using pushbutton on the joystick.
Five measurements are taken within a period of 0.5 s and their average
is displayed. The end of the measurements is indicated by a short
acoustic signal.
The following is displayed: corneal curvature (in mm or diopters K) of the
principal meridians with corresponding axes. If the cornea is spherical,
only one radius or one refractive power value will be displayed.
On the display, a blue progress bar in the status bar indicates the process
of computation.
The keratometer measurements may be repeated if desired.
If you take several measurements of corneal curvature in "one
measure" mode, the previously measured values will be overwritten in
the display.
To restore the last (just overwritten) results, press shortcut key <
