3.6 Resolution Calibration
Procedure
The resolution of the AQ6380 can be calibrated using a light source that you provide.
Connecting the External Light Source
1.
Turn on the AQ6380.
Turn on the MAIN POWER switch and then press the POWER switch.
For instructions on how to turn on and off the power, see section 3.3.
2.
Connect the external light source’s optical output connector to the AQ6380’s optical input
connector using a 9.5/125 μm SM (single mode) optical fiber.

For the light source, use a stabilized single-mode laser light.
Set the optical output power to –20 dBm or higher.
Use a light source with a level stability of 0.1 dBp-p or less.
Use a light source with a line width of 5 MHz or less.
3.
Press SYSTEM. The SYSTEM menu is displayed.
4.
Tap the
Res BW Calibration
. A resolution calibration menu and a message explaining how to
perform resolution calibration appear.
The message also contains the wavelength value of the previous resolution calibration.

If calibration has not been performed or has been cleared, “No User Cal” will appear.
