Figure B.1
Figure B.1 CE Mark
The CE mark indicates compliance with European safety and environmental regulations. It is required for engaging in
business and commerce in Europe.
European standards include the EMC guidelines for controlling noise.
This drive displays the CE mark based on the EMC guidelines.
•
EMC Requirements
: IEC/EN 61800-3:2004
•
General Requirements
: IEC/EN 61800-4:2003
•
Safety Requirements
: IEC/EN 61800-5-1:2003
Devices used in combination with this drive must also be CE certified and display the CE mark. When using drives
displaying the CE mark in combination with other devices, it is ultimately the responsibility of the user to ensure
compliance with CE standards. After setting up the device, verify that conditions meet European standards.
u
European Standards Compliance
This drive has been tested according to European standards: IEC/EN 61800-3, IEC/EN 61800-4, and IEC/EN 61800-5-1.
To comply with the European standards, be sure to meet the following conditions when combining this drive with other
devices:
n
Area of Use
Do not use drives in areas with pollution higher than severity 2 and overvoltage category 3 in accordance with IEC/EN
664.
The parts used in the drive’s cooling fan have an IP20AH protection level (Other parts of the drive have an IP40
protection level.). Install the panel in a closed electrical room. Handling of this drive must be done by authorized
personnel only.
The drive’s noise level is more than 70 dB, so measures must be taken to prevent problems resulting from noise.
This drive is intended for use to following area.
Second Environment
Environment that includes all establishments other than those directly connected to a low voltage power supply network
which supplies buildings used for domestic purposes.
Note:
Industrial areas, technical areas of any building fed from a dedicated transformer are examples of second environment locations.
PDS of Category C4
PDS of rated voltage equal to or above 1000 V, or rated current equal to or above 400 A, or intended for use in complex
systems in the second environment
n
Installation of Medium-Voltage Circuit Breakers
A medium-voltage circuit breaker should be installed on the primary side of the drive to protect the drive’s wiring and
prevent other secondary damage. The maximum inrush current of the drive’s transformer is approximately 15 times
larger than the current rating. Select a suitable circuit breaker. For details about the inrush current's characteristics,
contact your Yaskawa representative or the nearest Yaskawa sales office.
n
Short-Circuit Current
When a short circuit occurs on the output side of the drive, a current will flow that can be a maximum of 20 times greater
than the current rating. To prevent cable damage, select cables for the main circuit that meet this specification. For
details, refer to
Main Circuit Wiring on page 90
