2 Installation and Operations
Note: All the installations and operations here should conform to your local electric
safety code.
2.1 Check Unpacked DVR
2.1.1 Open the box
When you receive the DVR from the shipping agency, please check whether there is any
visible damage to the DVR appearance.
The protective materials used for the package of the DVR can protect most accidental
clashes during transportation.
Then you can open the box to check the accessories. Please check the items in
accordance with the list on the warranty card.
Finally you can remove the protective film of the DVR.

bout the front panel and the rear panel
You can find detailed illustration about front panel and rear panel interfaces.
Please check the model label on the rear panel according to your purchase contract
carefully.
The tag on the rear panel is very important. Please keep it well for future use. we usually
need you to provide the serial number when you ask for our service after sales.
2.1.3
Check after opening the front cover
Besides checking apparent damages, please check whether there is any loose
connection between the front panel’s data ribbon, power cable, the cooling fan’s power
line and the main board.
2.2 Installation Precaution
Please make sure the DVR is properly earthed.
2.2.1 Install
HDDs
For the first the installation, please make sure the HDDs are properly installed and right
jumped.
2.2.2
How to choose HDDs
We usually recommend Seagate HDD of 7200rpm or higher.
2.2.3
How to choose HDD size

HDD capacity
This series have no limit to HDD capacity. Please use 120G-500G HDD to guarantee
higher stability.

How to calculate the total capacity of HDDs
The formula of total HDD size is:
Total Capacity (MB) = Camera Amount * Recording Hours * HDD Usage Per Hour (M/h)
So we can get the formula of recording hours:
Recording Hours=
Total Capacity (MB)
Camera Amount*HDD Usage Per Hour (M/h)
We use H.264 compression algorithm. This algorithm is ideal for standalone DVRs.
When you calculate the total HD capacity, you should estimate the average HDD
capacity per hour for each channel.
