4.4  System operation

The XOLTA Outdoor BESS is intended to be operated from the XOLTA Cloud or via the Web API. Available

operation modes and operation states of the XOLTA system are described in Chapter 5.

4.5  Maintenance requirements

Proper maintenance of the XOLTA BAT-80 Outdoor BESS will prolong the operational life of the unit.

WARNING:

Before undertaking any maintenance work on the battery unit, make sure to disconnect the

battery from any power source. Even a de-energized XOLTA Outdoor BESS can cause injury

or even death.  Maintenance work within the high voltage components must only be

undertaken by a XOLTA trained technician. Failure to comply with this can result in injury

or even fatal accidents. Any unauthorized work on the energy storage unit will void the

product and performance warranty.

4.5.1  Maintenance intervals

The unit should be inspected at the following intervals:

4.5.1.1   Continuously monitoring

•  Communications link

•  Monitor that the unit is operating within cell voltage range

•  Monitor cell temperatures

•  Monitor site ambient temperatures

•  Monitor current sensors

4.5.1.2   Annual check of the unit

•  Clean or exchange main air filter if required

•  Clean and check main door seal for any signs of breakage or leaking

•  Check for moisture inside the rack

•  Check that all fans are operating with no abnormalities such as excess vibration or noise

•  Check air in-lets and exhaust air outlets are free from residue or any obstructions

•  Check for any signs of corrosion

•  Clean fans for dust or any residue

•  Check for loose connections and signs of burns

•  Check tightness of electrical and mechanical connections

•  Check for leakage of electrolyte

•  Measure ground resistance

4.5.1.3   Fan replacement

•  Battery cooling circuit fan replacement two fans mounted in the rack top section

•  PCS cooling circuit fan replacement one in the rack top section and one in the PCS compartment

behind PCS units. Replacement 50,000 operating hours

•  PCS internal fans to be replaced every 4 years or after 40,000 operating hours
