Jam Codes
Jam codes are stored in the printer’s Jam History each time paper jams occur. Each Phaser 8400 jam code
contains a group of three digits while Phaser 8500 and 8550 jam codes contain four digits. The jam codes
identify the information indicated below.
Tables located in the
Jam Codes
section of the Service Manual define the jam code digits and provide
troubleshooting procedures for specific codes.
Print Engine Fault Codes
Print engine faults can occur during the power-on sequence or during printer operation. Many faults can be
cleared by cycling the printer’s power switch. When a fault occurs, the printer automatically resets in an
attempt to clear the error. The printer reboots, beginning with the BIST and POST tests, and attempts to
complete the power-on sequence. If the fault persists after the automatic reboot sequence, the print engine
fault code appears on the display. This code is stored in the printer’s Engine Error History and is included on
the embedded
