Description of the GAMMA FINDER® III

5.5.5

Background Suppression

This function facilitates the finding of "99m-Tc enriched" tis-

sue areas, with simultaneously existing relatively high, non-

specific background activity.

To activate the mode, use the OK button to open the main

menu. Then select the "BACKGROUND" item and activate it

with the OK button.

After the function has been triggered, the device calculates

an  average  of  the  previous  measurements  of  the  non-spe-

cific background activity and from this then sets an activity

threshold. When scanning "hot spots," values exceeding this

threshold will trigger the acoustic signal. The display shows

the  detected  activity  without  additional  calculations  for

control purposes.
