WILO SE 07/2019
NOTICE!
In the case of indirect connections, a feed-in
source for the fire brigade should be provided to
ensure additional fire extinguishing options.
Wilo recommends providing a hydraulic connec-
tion for this type of feed-in source in each system.
The current DIN 14462 standard shall be
observed.
7.2 Installation
7.2.1 Foundation/bearing surface
The system is constructed for installation on flat
concrete floors. The base frame is mounted on
height-adjustable vibration absorbers as means of
insulation against structure-borne noise.
NOTICE!
For transport reasons, the vibration absorbers may
not be installed upon delivery. Before installing
the FLA Compact, check that all the vibration
absorbers are fitted and locked by threaded nuts
(Fig. 8a/8b, item E).
If the customer also wants to secure the installa-
tion to the floor, suitable measures must be taken
to avoid structure-borne noise.
The baseplate of the break tank must be sup-
ported across its entire surface.
The maximum volume of the tank concerned must
be considered when designing the load-bearing
capacity of the bearing surface. The tank must not
slant when full, because an uneven load can cause
destruction.
The tank overflow must be connected according
to the regulations in force. Take suitable measures
to prevent heat transmission through the connec-
tion pipes. The PE tank is designed to accommo-
date clean water. The maximum temperature of
the water must not exceed 40 °C!
The system fulfils the requirement “indirect con-
nection” according to DIN 1988-600
CAUTION! Risk of damage!
The tanks are designed statically for their nom-
inal capacity. Subsequent changes can affect
the static forces and cause impermissible defor-
mations or even destruction of the tank!
CAUTION! Danger of injury and danger of dam-
age to the tank!
The cover of the break tank cannot be walked
on! Non-permitted loads on the cover can lead
to destruction.
7.2.2 Hydraulic connection and pipes
• The FLA Compact has to be connected directly to
the supply network at the tank inlet.
• First perform all the welding and soldering work
and the necessary flushing of the pipework and
the supplied system before connecting the sys-
tem.
• The customer’s pipes must be installed without
tension. Compensators with extension limiters or
flexible connection pipes are recommended for
this purpose in order to avoid stress at the pipe
connections and minimise the transmission of
system vibrations to the building installation. In
order to prevent transmission of structure-borne
noise to the building, do not secure the piping to
the system pipework (Fig. 8a/8b, item D).
• The fresh water supply line must be adequately
dimensioned. The flow resistance must be kept as
low as possible (i.e. short pipe, few elbows and
shut-off devices of sufficient size).
• The water supply network must be protected
against stagnating water in spur lines, i.e. if possi-
ble, a short connection pipe or, if necessary, by
installing flushing devices (Fig. 6a/6b, item 31).
• While transporting the FLA Compact, all connec-
tions between the break tank and the pump mod-
ule must be disconnected.
The following connections must be re-estab-
lished (Fig. 1a/1b and Fig. 11):
- Pipework of each pump to the break tank on
suction side by means of a
compensator
(17)
- Each
bypass line
(15) between the connection
(15a) behind the
flow restrictor
(18) of the corre-
sponding pump and the
connection
(15b) to the
break tank
(50)
7.2.3 Diaphragm expansion tank
For transport reasons, the diaphragm expansion
tank 8 litre (Fig. 4a, item 8/Fig. 4b) that is part of
the scope of delivery of the system may be deliv-
ered unmounted (i.e. packed separately). This is to
be installed before commissioning.
NOTICE
For systems of type FLA Compact-1, ensure that
the throughflow fitting is not twisted. The fitting
is installed correctly when the drain valve (Fig. 4a,
item B) or the flow direction arrows printed on it
run parallel to the pressure pipe (Fig. 2a, item 5)
for 1-pump system or to the collecting pipe
(Fig. 2b, item 5) in the multi-pump system.
If an additional larger diaphragm expansion tank
has to be installed, observe the corresponding
installation and operating instructions. When
installing a diaphragm expansion tank, also make
sure there is enough room for maintenance or
replacement work.
NOTICE!
Diaphragm expansion tanks require regular test-
ing according to the directive 97/23/EC (in Ger-
many, also take into account the Operating Safety
Ordinance §§ 15(5) and 17 as well as Annex 5).
7.2.4 Safety valve (accessory)
Ensure that, in the event of a fire, no impermissible
pressures will arise as a result of high tempera-
tures. If necessary, provide safety valves to dis-
charge the expansion water, (DIN 4753 and
DIN EN 1509).
