4 Safety Instructions
The following safety instructions must be observed for
protection from electric shock, personal injury, the risk of
fire and explosion:
4.1 Safety in the Place of Work
• Untidiness in the place of work increases the risk
of an accident!
• The presence of children and unauthorised
persons in the work area is forbidden.
• Applicable health and safety regulations must be
observed.
• All equipment used is only to be used if in
correct working order.
• The place of work should be of appropriate
ergonomic design.
• Errors of posture cause damage to posture.
4.2 Requirements on Personnel
• The WFE 4S is only permitted to be used by
qualified personnel appointed to perform the
task.
• Personal safety equipment must comply with the
safety requirements of the place of work,
this includes:
- Protective clothing
- Safety glasses
- Face mask
- Ear defenders
- Gloves
• When working with adhesives, the adhesive
manufacturer’s warnings are to be heeded.
• Protect yourself from solder splashes,
there is a risk of burns from liquid solder.
4.3 Electrical Tools
• Do not use cable for purposes for which it is not
intended.
• Look after electrical tools carefully.
• Do not use the WFE 4S in a damp or wet
environment.
• Do not use the WFE 4S near inflammable liquids
or gases.
• The WFE 4S is only permitted to be used for the
purpose intended.
• Protect the connecting cable from heat, oil and
sharp edges.
• Regularly check the connecting cable for
damage.
• Remove damaged electrical tools from use
immediately.
• Safety devices must not be disabled.
• Only use accessories or auxiliary equipment that
is listed in the list of accessories in the operating
instructions.
• Only use WELLER accessories or auxiliary
equipment on original WELLER equipment.
• The usage of other tools or other accessories
can mean that there is a risk of injury.
• If the WFE 4S is used in conjunction with other
equipment, the warnings listed in the operating
instructions for the other equipment must also
be observed.
4.4 Accident Prevention
• Take care with flying sparks.
• Only use a soldering fumes extractor suitable for
the place of work.
• The WFE 4S is not permitted to be used for
extracting inflammable gases.
• Avoid unsupervised operation.
• Only work with good illumination.
• If facilities for connecting a soldering fumes
extractor are provided, correct operation must be
checked.
4.5 Maintenance and Repair
• Electrical tools are only permitted to be repaired
by a qualified electrician.
• Unplug from the mains prior to maintenance and
repair.
• Follow the maintenance instructions and
information on the replacement of the filter.
• Only original WELLER spare parts are permitted
to be used.
Important!
Failure to observe the safety instructions places life and
limb at risk!
