WARNINGS:
•
In case of rain or damp weather, braking distances are longer. It is
recommended to anticipate braking in such a situation.
•
If turning and braking, the handlebars can have a negative influence on the
cyclist's response time.
•
Do not touch the disc brakes after heavy use of your power-
assisted bicycle’s
braking system as you may get burnt.
1.
Adjustment of mechanical disc brakes
The pads exert a pressure on a disk attached to the hub of the wheel. The intensity of the pressure is
controlled by a brake lever with a cable. Do not operate the brake lever when the wheel is detached
from the frame or the fork.
To align the mechanical disc brake calliper, loosen the brake calliper bracket mounting screws.
Brake with the corresponding brake lever (the brake calliper is correctly positioned) and hold the brake
lever in this position while tightening the calliper bracket fixing screws.
Check that the inner pad (inside the wheel) is 0.2-0.4 mm from the disc. If this is not enough, tighten
the pad positioning screw to 0.2-0.4 mm between the pad and the disc.
To adjust the outer pad (outside the wheel), simply change the tension of the brake cable to obtain a
gap of 0.2 - 0.4 mm, at the calliper or brake lever level.
Be careful not to spray oil or lubricating material on the disc or pads (for example when servicing the
chain or derailleur). If this happens, the pads and disc should be degreased or changed.
Check the alignment of the pads by spinning the wheel, you can go on the roads
Discs: your bicycle is equipped with 160 mm diameter discs.
•
A system consisting of a nut and a locking nut allows you to adjust the cable tension and
therefore the braking power, which will vary with time as the brake pads wear down.
