¼’ screw connector:
Takes a ¼’ screw, the standard screw used for most tripods, allowing
the
SMP
to be mounted on a tripod.
4.2
Connecting the field probe
The
SMP
performs the functions of displaying and storing electromagnetic field data measured
by means of a field probe and so it needs to be connected to an electromagnetic field probe in
order to do measurements. The
SMP
only reads data measured by Wavecontrol field probes.
If there is no field probe connected to the device when it is switched on, it will not provide any
field values and therefore no measurements can be stored in the memory. However, the
configuration, memorised data display and GPS positioning functions will be available.
The device must be switched off when a field probe is connected to it
. The
SMP
will
automatically detect the type of probe and its calibration.
4.2.1
Connecting the probe
The probe connector is a push-pull connector and so the probe is connected by inserting
the male connector on the probe into the female connector on the
SMP
until it stops. The
polarity of the connector must be observed and so the red marks on the male and female
connectors must line up.
