RECHARGING THE BATTERY
The
SMP
contains a rechargeable Li-ion battery allowing the apparatus to run for over 10 hours
The level of battery charge can be checked at any time on the main screen of the apparatus, in the
Battery
field.
Li-ion batteries have no “memory effect” and so there is no need to discharge the battery
fully. In
fact it is best to avoid allowing the battery to run down completely because that can shorten its
useful life considerably. It is important to take the following precautions:
•
Always switch the apparatus off when it is not in use.
•
Recharge the battery regularly (for example, once a month) if the apparatus goes for long
periods without being used.
The battery of the
SMP
should be recharged when the battery indicator shows that it is at its
minimum level:
When it reaches that level the battery will still allow the apparatus to run for 30 minutes, but after it
is switched off, it might not be possible to switch it on again.
The
battery charge time is 4–5 hours
. The procedure for charging the battery is:
1) Insert the connector of the battery charger into the connector of the
SMP
.
2) Plug the charger into an electrical outlet (220 V AC). The recharge LED will light up. If it
does not light up, it means that the charger is not connected properly.
3) The level of charge of the battery can be checked directly in the
Battery
field of the main
screen. The battery charge time is 4–5 hours.
4) The charge is complete when the recharge LED starts flashing. Unplug the charger from
the mains and then disconnect it from the
SMP
.
The
SMP
has a Li-ion battery charge controller and so you can leave the apparatus charging for
more than the specified 5 hours with no danger of damaging the battery.
The apparatus can be used while the battery is being charged. All the functions will be available.
The battery will function normally at temperatures ranging from -20ºC to +45ºC. However, we
recommend avoiding low temperatures to prevent its useful life from being shortened.
Only the battery charger supplied by Wavecontrol should be used to recharge the battery of
the
SMP
.
