2 Preparing for Operation

Leaving the mass spectrometer ready for operation

Leave the mass spectrometer in Operate mode except in the following cases:

•

When performing routine maintenance

•

When changing the source

•

When leaving the mass spectrometer unused for a long period

In these instances, put the mass spectrometer in Standby mode. See the 

online Help for details.

Emergency instrument shutdown

To shut down the instrument in an emergency

1. Operate the power button on the front of the instrument.

2. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the instrument.

Warning: 

The TQ Detector’s power switch does not isolate the 

instrument from the main power supply. To isolate the instrument, 

you must disconnect the power cable from the back of the instrument.

Caution: 

Data can be lost during an emergency shutdown.
