5.3 Basic SMS Functions
This section provides an introduction to interacting with your Watchguard SMS 2010 alarm
system via your mobile phone.
It is important to read through and understand these
basic requirements before sending any commands to you Watchguard SMS 2010
system.
Points to keep in mind when entering, sending and receiving SMS
Commands:
1. Your Watchguard SMS 2010 comes factory set with a PIN code (a personal
identification number of six digits used to identify the user and prevent unauthorised
access to system controls).
2. This six-digit PIN
must
come before all commands.
3. The six-digit PIN
must
only contain numbers (0-9) or letters (A-Z).
4. Limit to SMS is 25 messages in 8.5 minutes (the system automatically overrides the
sending of too many messages).
5. Commands are not case sensitive. For example, ‘000000DiSARm’ will function as
‘000000DISARM’ (the software internally converts whole text to uppercase)
6. Messages that contain no valid PIN code that are sent to the Watchguard SMS 2010
will not be responded to (refer to Section 5.4.1 – ‘To Change your PIN code,’ to
assign/change a PIN code).
7. Messages that contain a valid PIN with a command that is not recognised will have a
list of messages that are available sent to them. These include:
ARM DISARM PANIC OUTPUTON OUTPUTOFF READPHONE WRITEPHONE
ERASEPHONE ID PIN etc.
(Refer to Section 5.5 – ‘SMS Commands List,’ for a complete listing and explanation of
each of these messages and their functions).
8. The ID (identification) is at the start of every SMS received from the Watchguard
SMS 2010.
The default PIN code is
000000 (six zeroes).
