Generic Input Open/Closed Alarm (one for each used)
This error message appears if a switch connected to a digital input is putting out a signal that indicates
an alarm condition. This could mean that the switch is either open or closed. The custom name of the
input and the custom message will appear in the alarm message.
Possible Causes Corrective Actions
Normal function of the switch Determine the cause of the process problem.
Faulty switch or wiring.
Test the input by removing the wires to the switch,
then j to - repeatedly. If the unit is able to
register the changes in state, then the switch or
wiring is faulty.
Incorrect setting of “Alarm when
Go to the Digital Input Page and verify that the
switch is open/closed” menu. “Alarm when switch is” menu is set for
the proper selection. You can check the
operation of the switch by measuring between the
two wires with an ohmmeter.
Faulty digital input.
If the switch is functioning, and it is wired
correctly, and the settings are correct, replace
the Process Monitor board.
Digital Input High or High-High Rate
This error message appears if a Flow meter or Generic Counter digital input type receives contact
closures at a rate faster than the limit programmed in the Rate High or High-High Alarm field.
Possible Causes Corrective Actions
Incorrect setting of the Rate High Alarm. Go to the Digital Input page and check the setting.
False contacts at a high rate.
Separate cable from AC voltage. Use shielded cable.
Digital Input Low or Low-Low Rate
This error message appears if a Flow meter or Generic Counter digital input type receives contact
closures at a rate slower than the limit programmed in the Rate Low or Low-Low Alarm field.
Possible Causes Corrective Actions
Incorrect setting of the Rate Low Alarm. Go to the Digital Input page and check the setting.
Faulty switch or wiring.
Test the input by removing the wires to the switch,
then j to - repeatedly. If the unit is able to
