2.4 Measurement procedure
2.4.1 Measurements in reservoir
Before measuring in reservoir it is important to put protective cap off and
submerge the probe in the analyte reservoir as deep, as important. Permit water
flow, moving the probe up and down with azimuth angle of 10-15 cm once in 2-5 s
(if there is a water flow in the reservoir, the probe may be motionless). After meas-
urements are determined, fix the values in mg/dm
3
or % saturation.
2.4.2 Measurement of oxygen at depth up to 20 m.
Oxygen probe permits to measure dissolved oxygen at depth up to 20 m if
ordered cable extension. Due to rubber bushing, on which the membrane is fitted,
equalizes hydrostatic pressure of membrane assembly’s intracavity and ambient
medium. In addition the measurements stay constant if oxygen concentration is
constant, independent of hydrostatic pressure.
WARNING: Before measuring deeply check, that membrane assembly
is fully filled with electrolyte!
2.4.3 Measuring in standard BOD flask
While measuring in standard oxygen BOD flask in accordance with fig. 2.2 it
is needed:
submerge the cane of stir bar in flask;
screw off protective bushing and take it off. Put the probe in the flask, firm-
ing it in the flask neck with rubber ring, installed on the measuring part of the
probe;
put the flask on the stir bar and turn it on.
Note
– The rubber ring is not included in the meter kit and should be select-
ed in accordance with flask’s size.
