2.1 Assembly overview - fuel rail with high-
pressure pump and injectors

Never dismantle the high-pressure pump.
♦
If the fuel rail is removed, the injector O-ring, support washer,
spring element and combustion chamber seal must always be
renewed ⇒ page 225 .

WARNING
For safety reasons, when the battery is not disconnected, the
fuse for the fuel pump must be removed before opening the
fuel system, otherwise the fuel pump could be activated by the
driver door contact switch. Fuse assignment ⇒ Current flow

The fuel pressure in the high-pressure pipe can reach 120 bar!
Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to avoid injury
and contact with the skin. Before loosening fuel pipes, wrap a
cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by care‐
fully loosening the union nuts.
