f) Parallel and Serial Connection of Outputs A and B
This section only applies regarding lab mains adapters VLP-2403 OVP and VLP-2602 OVP.
Attention!
Connection in series may lead to dangerous voltages (up to 80 V/DC for the VLP-2403 OVP and up to
120 V/DC for the VLP-2602 OVP). therefore, do not touch and electrically conductive parts. Always
observe the safety information!
Warning!
Never try connecting the fixed current output „3 - 6 V“ (output C) in parallel or series with other outputs!
The lab mains adapters VLP-2403 OVP and VLP-2602 OVP have a selection switch (17) to switch between the
different operating modes. For this, the A and B outputs within the lab mains adapter are connected. External
bridge cables to connect the plus and minus connection sockets of the different outputs are not required.
The selection switch (17) has four positions that are assigned as follows:
• IND = INDIVIDUAL:
every output delivers current and voltage separately without any internal connection.
• PAR = PARALLEL:
The two outputs A and B are switched in parallel internally.
The two red connection sockets (5a and 5b) for the plus connection are internally connected and the two blue
connection sockets (5a and 5b) for minus connection are internally connected.
The rotary control for setting voltage (3a) controls the voltage settings at both outputs at the same time as
master controller.
The two outputs A and B must be switched in parallel when one output alone cannot supply the required
current. The output currents of output A and output B add up, and the available voltage remains unchanged.
• SER = SERIAL:
The two outputs A and B are switched in series internally.
The blue connection socket (5a) and the red connection socket (5b) are internally connected.
The two outputs A and B must be switched in series when one output alone cannot supply the required
voltage. In this case, the consumer must be connected to the red connection socket (5a) for plus and to the
blue connection socket (5b) for minus.
The output voltages of output A and output B add up, and the available current range remains unchanged.
Outputs A and B can also be switched in series to supply a consumer with a positive voltage (red connection
socket 5a) and a negative voltage (blue connection socket 5b).
The earth connection then must be connected either to the blue connection socket 5a or the red connection
socket 5b.
• TRCK = SERIES TRACKING:
The outputs A and B are switched in series as for the „SER“ setting. However, output B is always equal to
output A, and the operating elements for output A (controls 3a and 4a) become master controls. They
influence both outputs at the same time.
The operating elements of output B have no function in this setting.
