Frequently Asked Questions

Normally the reverse would not be true.  Software written for the 2553/ 2553E would
often use the phase portion of the result definitions and would often specifically use the
WIRING and WIRING? commands (which are not present in the 2551).  The following
are invalid syntax for the 2551.

The extra features present in the 2551 are –

Peak and glitch captured waveforms.

•

 

Distortion waveforms.

•

 

IEC61000-3-2 Class D waveform envelope analysis.

•

 

Separate positive and negative peak voltage and current results.

•

 

Peak-to-peak voltage and current results.

•

 

Envelop historical voltage and current results.

•

 

Average rectified measurements of voltage and current.

•

 

Form Factor for voltage and current.

I am confused about the TOTAL results.  Can you explain them?

•

 

For all voltage and current peak results, the TOTAL is the highest for any configured
phase.

•

 

For all voltage and current RMS and DC results, the TOTAL is the mean for all
configured phases.

•

 

For voltage and current crest-factor results, the TOTAL is calculated from the
TOTAL peak and RMS results (described above).

•

 

For all voltage and current harmonic amplitude results, the TOTAL is the mean for
all configured phases.

•

 

For all voltage and current inrush results, the TOTAL is the highest inrush result for
any configured phase.

•

 

For watts and VAR results, the TOTAL is the vector total for all configured phases.

•

 

For VA results, the TOTAL is calculated from the total watts and VAR.

•

 

For power-factor results, the TOTAL is calculated from the total watts and VA
results.

•

 

For all harmonic phase shift results, TOTAL is invalid.

•

 

TOTAL is allowed for PCL graphically printed waveforms.  In this case all
configured phases have their waveforms printed on the same graph.
