4. Connect the cable to the AurorAcorD Com 1 connector either on
the front or rear of the unit. Connect the cable to an RS-232
connector on your PC (Com 1 for these instructions).
5. Apply power to the PC and use the Windows Start Menu to access
HyperTerminal from the Accessories program group. You may use
any communications package that provide X-Modem transfer.
Note: HyperTerminal instructions were written using HyperTerminal version 595160. If you are using a
different version, refer to HyperTerminal’s help file or other documentation if necessary.
6. A dialog box will display that requests a name for this connection (acord, for example). Enter a name and
press OK.
7. In the next dialog box to display, choose “Direct to Com 1” from the
Connect using
field. The other fields
on this screen are not applicable for this procedure.
8. The next screen will allow you to define a baud rate of 115,200, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and None for the
parity and flow control. You may use the other baud rates listed on this screen (you must match the baud
rate at the host computer with the one you select in this screen), but 115,200 bps will insure the quickest
download. Press OK.
9. If you have not already done so, connect a monitor to the spot monitor BNC or main display monitor BNC
on the rear of the AurorAcorD.
10. Apply power to the AurorAcorD. While the unit is booting, the monitor will display “Booting…” and the
LEDs on the front panel will flash.
11. Press any key while the AurorAcorD is booting. Press the Menu key to display the
Boot Menu.
12. Press “3” to select the Serial Ports Menu.
13. Press “1” to define the baud rate for Com port 1.
14. Press “6” to select 115,200 baud and return to the Serial Port Setup Menu.
15. Press “3”. You should see the baud rate chosen in the step above reflected in this
screen. If so, select “1”. Otherwise, return to the steps above.
16. Returning to the PC, begin the transfer by holding down the Ctrl key on your PC keyboard and typing the
letter “a”. Release the Ctrl key and type “r1”. Press the
ENTER
key (or <CR>). You will see a “c” on the
HyperTerminal screen and a flashing message on the monitor. You must use lowercase letters as shown
in this step; uppercase letters will not initiate the transfer.
17. From HyperTerminal’s Transfer Menu, select
Send File
.
18. Select X-modem from the Protocol field and browse to the software update file located on your PC,
diskette, CD or other media. Note that this step assumes that you have already received the software
update from Vicon, as discussed in the beginning of this procedure.
19. Select
Send
. Transfer will begin. A transfer screen will display on the PC and “Flash Download” will
display on your AurorAcorD monitor. When the monitor displays a message indicating that the download
