Chapter 2 Meter Setup
Updating the firmware from USB
You can update your Companion firmware via USB drive if VIAVI sends you a file.
1. Connect the Companion to the AC charger adapter to ensure an uninterrupted supply of
power during the update.
2. Reboot the Companion.
3. If you received the firmware file by email
(instead of a USB drive) , save the file to a USB
drive in the root directory.
4. Insert the USB drive into the Companion.
The update will begin, and the Pair indicator will blink pink and blue for a minute or so
as it updates. The meter will power off when finished.
Installing software options
You can install software options via USB drive if VIAVI sends you a file or via StrataSync.
1. Before installing options, upgrade to the latest firmware, as shown in the previous
section.
2. If you received the option file by email (instead of a USB drive), save the file to a USB
drive in the root directory.
3. Reboot the Companion.
4. Insert the USB drive into the Companion. The unit detects the option file and installs it.
The Pair indicator will blink pink and blue for a minute or so as it updates.
5. Disconnect and reconnect the Mobile Tech app to the Companion to see the new
options installed.
