A ccording to IEC 61508 .
VEGAWAVE 63 is quali fi ed in mode A ( over fi ll protection ) for
use in measuring chains of stage SIL 2 according to IEC 61508
( redundant , stage SIL 3 ).
T he following instrument combinations meet the requirements
according to SIL :

T he recurring test according to IEC 61508 can be carried out
by pushing the simulation key on the oscillator or by brie fl y ( > 2
seconds ) interrupting the cable to the sensor . T he correct
sequence of the switching conditions must be monitored via
the switching ampli fi er as well as the connected systems . T he
sensor must neither be removed nor response must be
triggered by fi lling the vessel . T his applies to VEGAWAVE 63
with NAMUR oscillator WE 60 N .
