7.1.4 V-Scout Profiles
(optional)
V-Scout Profiles use factory or user defined auto test profiles to evaluate separate test
acquisitions comprising of multiple wavelengths to detect anomalies. Traces are analyzed,
compared, and merged into a single symbolic link map. Multiple OTDR trace files (.sor) are
saved in a single file folder for simplified archiving and easy future analysis. Each individual
acquisition can be customized and user defined as a test profile depending on network type or
application. This optional feature eliminates event interpretation.
V-Scout Profiles give the operator the power to override and optimize test parameters for
specific test needs. Create a PON, Access Fiber, or FTTA test plan. Select V-Scout test plan
and the unit will apply your directives to test setup for every test fiber automatically.
7.1.4.1 Setting up and Using V-Scout mode
V-Scout gives the operator the ability to optimize automated testing further by creating custom
V-Scout test plans. A unique profile can be created for specific test environments.
To setup V-Scout profiles:
1. On the OTDR Viewer Setup screen, select V-Scout Profiles for the Mode . The green V-
Scout
button appears at the bottom.
