4.2 Selecting the Cone Type
Select the cone type to be used in the exposure. Use of the optional long cone is
recommended to keep the patient’s absorbed dose as low as possible.
Assembling the Cone: Long 30 cm (12
″
) Cone
The long cone is attached into position by pushing it into the short cone and rotating it
so that the guidelines on the short cone and long cone line up.

Assembling the Cone: Rectangular Collimator
The rectangular collimator can be attached to the short (200 mm) or long (300 mm)
cone.
The rectangular collimator is attached into position by pushing it into the cone and
rotating it so that the guidelines on the cone and the rectangular collimator line up.
