Note
Regenerative braking may be reduced
temporarily when the vehicle battery is
cold, fully charged, or almost fully
charged.
Always be ready to p
ress the
brake pedal to slow or stop the vehicle.
Do not rely solely on the regenerative
braking system to stop your vehicle.
The vehicle is equipped with a
hydraulic braking system and a brake
pedal in case a sudden stop is
necessary before the regenerative
braking can stop the vehicle.
WARNING
Brakes
Regenerative Braking
Regenerative braking happens
automatically when you lift your foot off
the accelerator pedal. This captures
energy and increases range. It also saves
wear and tear on the brake pads.
The brake lights automatically
illuminate during regenerative braking
to warn other drivers when the vehicle
slows down.
Using Regenerative Brakes
Slowly lift off the accelerator pedal and
the vehicle will begin slowing down.
Regenerative braking is not available
when the battery charge is greater than
90%. Use manual braking to bring the
vehicle to a stop
if the battery charge is
greater than 90%
.
Remember
: Regenerative braking does
not change the time needed to get a
foot up to the brake pedal or always
decrease stopping distance. If you get
too close to the vehicle in front of you,
there will not be enough time to apply
the brakes if that vehicle suddenly
slows or stops. Always leave enough
room up ahead to stop, even with
regenerative braking.
