Sway bar linkage arm removal
and re-installation process

Ensure the vehicle is parked with the
parking brake engaged and on stable
ground. Use wheel chocks to further secure
the vehicle if not on level ground.
Loosen but do not fully remove the bolt
connecting the linkage arm to the sway bar
with (2) 14 mm wrenches or a 14mm
wrench and socket.

Remove the sway bar spindle cover bolt
with the 5mm hex key or bit and the
control arm bracket bolt with the 6mm hex
key or bit and a 14mm wrench or socket.
Make sure to keep track of the spacers.
Remove the linkage arm and remove the
bolt that tightens the linkage arm to the
sway bar. Use a non-marring or dead blow
hammer if necessary to remove the linkage
arm.

Roll the linkage arm over so that the bend
of linkage arm is now further inward
toward the center of the vehicle and turn
the control arm extension riser downward
until it aligns with the inner control arm
bracket.
Replace the linkage arm tightening bolt,
with the head of the bolt at the top of the
linkage arm, do not tighten until step 7 is
completed.
Reconnect the linkage arm to the sway bar
so that the splines align, the linkage arm sits
level with the vehicle and the control arm
extension riser is in the inner control arm
bracket
Reconnect and tighten each bolt and nut
that was removed in steps 3 and 4 with the
spacers in place.
Torque each bolt to
71
ft-lb.
Repeat these steps on the remaining sway
bar links
on all 4 wheels
to complete soft
terrain set up.
