6. Place a new replacement filter in a shallow
pan with the open end facing upward, as
shown in the figure. Pour new oil, of the
proper type, in through the threaded center
hole [
E ]. Stop pouring when the oil reaches
the bottom of the threads. Allow a minute or
two for the oil to be absorbed by the filter
material.
7. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the rubber
gasket [ D ] on the new filter.
8. Install the new oil filter onto the engine oil filter
adapter. Install the oil filter until the rubber
gasket contacts the filter adapter or oil
cooler, then tighten the filter an additional 3/4
to one full turn.
9. Remove the fill cap [ B ] or use the dipstick fill
tube [ A ] to fill the crankcase with new oil of
the proper type to the [ G
1
] or FULL mark on
the dipstick (see [ G
1
] in Figure 6-21 ).
Recheck oil level before adding more oil.

).
10. Reinstall the oil fill cap and dipstick securely.
11. Test run the engine to check for leaks. Stop
the engine, allow a minute for the oil to drain
down, and recheck the level on the dipstick.
Verify the oil level is up to but not over the
[
G
1
] or FULL mark on the dipstick.

attempt to open the fuel pump module.
Damage to the precision components
will result, and the warranty will be void.

Before performing maintenance or repair

all power has been removed and locked
out to prevent accidental start-up.

Relieve pressure from the compressor
system before performing maintenance
on any components.
