5.1 Choosing the sensor model
The microwave sensor model is selected according to the size of the pipe. On small
pipes with diameter < = 150 mm (6") the Flow Through model sensor is always used.
On larger pipe sizes, 200 mm/8" or larger, both the Twin Blade and Flow Through
sensor types are suitable.
Flow through models are: FT50/2", FT80/3", FT100/4", FT150/6", FT200/8", FT250/10",
and FT300/12". These models are compatible with the following flange standards:
• DIN PN10
• DIN PN16
• ANSI Class 150
• JIS 10k
TB models are compatible with the PN25 flange standard.
For the laboratory analysis of measurement results it is important to use a proper
sampler (for example NOVE) and to install it in accordance with sensor installation
instructions.
Caution:
Before installing the process coupling or sensor, check that the
process pipe is empty and unpressurized and that installation can be
carried out safely.
5.2 Choosing the installation site
When choosing the installation position, consider the following requirements:
• Do not install the sensor on a pipeline where air pockets may form.
• Do not install the sensor on downflow pipes.
• The sensor should not be installed on the suction side of a pump or to a mixing
tank.
