15. PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION
The pearly
®
cycle computer is a battery-powered minicomputer used
to measure a woman’s daily wake-up temperature (basal body tempe-
rature) in order to determine and visualize her fertile days. The fertile
period is calculated based on the body temperature that is measured
orally right after waking up with the cycle computer sensor, then
saved and automatically analysed. Together with the manual input of
data on menstruation, the device helps to determine the fertile and
infertile cycle phases.
