APPENDIX A: TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
PHASEMASTER™ 6 DIRECT ENERGY WELDING CONTROL
990-083
A-7
Display
Electrostatically shielded, 10 digit, 7 segment red LED display and one ± indicator for polarity. The
following parameters are displayed during each welding sequence, Schedule Number, Pola rity (+, - ,±),
Squeeze Cycles, Weld Cycles, Hold Cycles, and Weld Current (% of maximum). Squeeze Cycles and Hold
Cycles are used only for Air Operated Weld Heads. When a Manual Head is connected the displays will be
inactive and blank. Alarms are displayed using the Weld and Hold Time displays. Alarm formats are:
"SEE Ax" where "x" is the Alarm Number as referred to in Alarms. The Front Panel Indicators are
illuminated by LEDs. A description of the Indicators is listed in Chapter 1.
Front Panel Switches
8 Electrostatically shielded, membrane switches are integral to the front panel. The switches are: [RUN],
[PROGRAM], [SAVE],[
>
], [
?
], [

]. The function of each switch is listed in Chapter 1. The
function of the WELD/NO WELD Switch is to inhibit Welding when it is placed in the NO WELD position.
This switch is a mechanical switch whose state is not dependent upon the microprocessor.
Input/Output Cable Connectors and Fusing
Circuit Breakers and Fuses
The PM6 may be connected to any 100, 115, 208, or 230 volt outlet that is capable of supplying 30
amps. The voltage drop, at the outlet, during the welding sequence, should be less than 5%. PM6
welding controls are supplied with a combination 30 amp circuit breaker/power switch, located on the
rear panel, which protects both legs of the incoming power line at any of the specified voltages. The
PM6/460 Controls require a user supplied 15 amp circuit breaker, disconnect and input power cable.
The control board and valve driver circuit are protected by a fuse, F1, also located on the rear panel.
The rating of this fuse is as follows:
