1.0 Overview
The hazards associated with handling the individual components of the Protectant™ Termite
Barrier System vary markedly. Therefore, the clothing requirements also vary according to which
component is being used. Workers should also follow good personal hygiene practices including
washing hands after use and before eating, drinking and smoking. Installers should also not eat,
drink or smoke whilst handling and using the materials.
2.0 Clothing Requirements
2.1 ADSOL
ADHESIVE
2.1.1 Clothing
During normal operating procedures, full length clothing is recommended to avoid skin contact.
Soiled clothing should be washed with detergent prior to re-use. Clothing used during Installation
Operations should be washed upon the completion of each day’s work.
2.1.2 Gloves
The product ADSOL ADHESIVE is rated as irritating to the skin and repeated exposure may cause
skin dryness or cracking. Therefore it is recommended that chemical resistant rubber gloves are
used to avoid skin contact and provide hand protection. These gloves must be washed thoroughly
with soap and water upon the completion of an Installation Operation requiring the use of this
product. As soon as deterioration of the gloves occurs, they must be changed and the used gloves
disposed of according to the
Storage and Disposal of Waste Materials.
2.1.3 Eye Protection
Wear safety glasses/goggles to avoid eye contact when handling the ADSOL ADHESIVE. Caution
should be taken when mixing/stirring the material or where splashing may occur.
2.1.4 Footwear
Safety shoes are to be worn at all times when Installers are on site.
2.1.5 Personal Respirators
This product is rated, as vapours may cause drowsiness and dizziness. During normal operations
special ventilation is not normally required as the material is used in the open. However if mists or
vapours are generated on a calm day, or it is used in a confined or enclosed area, then mechanical
ventilation should be considered. If this is not viable, an approved organic vapour/particulate
respirator is required. Please note that persons should not enter an area deemed to be a confined
space without the appropriate controls to ascertain the suitability for entry.
