GENERAL INSTRUCITONS FOR TILLAGE
Correct tillage has a great effect on germination. The soil must be tilled sufficiently fine in order to
get the seeds covered and keep the evaporation less. Take care not to till too fine soils susceptible to
siltation and incrustation. We recommend to carry out the tillage with a S-tine or stifftine harrow
the tines of which are placed sufficiently close to each other. Normally 2-3 driving times are enough
if they intercross e.g. 30 degrees. The tillage depth should be the same as the intended sowing
depth. The tractor used in harrowing should be equipped with wide or double mounted tyres.

ADJUSTING THE SOWING
The sowing depth is adjusted by changing the spring loading of the coulters. This can be done
either individually or centrally, fig. 24.
