Driving Backward
1. Move the levers to the center, unlocked position.
2. To go backward, slowly pull the motion-control levers
rearward (
Figure 25 ).

Shutting Off the Machine
To shut off the machine, move the motion-control levers to
neutral and then to the N
EUTRAL
-
LOCK
position, disengage
the blade-control switch (PTO), and turn the ignition key to
the O
FF
position.
Set the parking brake when you leave the machine; refer to
Setting the Parking Brake (page 19) . Remove the key from
the ignition switch.
CAUTION
Children or bystanders may be injured if they
move or attempt to operate the machine while it is
unattended.
Always remove the ignition key and set the parking
brake when leaving the machine unattended, even
if just for a few minutes.
Adjusting the Height of Cut
Using the Transport Lock
The transport lock has 2 positions, and is used with the
deck-lift pedal. There is a L
OCK
position and an U
NLOCK
position for the transport position of the mower deck ( Figure
26 ).
