Checking the Spark Plug
1.
Check the spark plug—if you see light brown
or gray on the insulator, the engine is operating
properly.
Note:
A black coating on the insulator may
mean the air cleaner is dirty.
Important:
Do not clean the spark plug(s).
Always replace the spark plug(s) when it has
a black coating, worn electrodes, an oily film,
or cracks.
2.
Adjust the air gap (
) between the
center electrode and side electrode to 0.76 mm
(0.030 inch).

Installing the Spark Plug
1.
Install and torque the 2 spark plugs (
Note:
Use a spark-plug socket and torque
wrench to tighten the spark plugs.
2.
Install the spark-plug wires onto the spark plugs.

Install the hood; refer to
(page 45)
