5.3.3
Hub Mounting Options
When the K-Cube position aligner and two piezo drivers are used together on the hub,
signals can be routed via dedicated internal communication channels. These
channels are selected via the GUI Settings panel.
If Channel 2 is selected, the feedback signals run between adjacent pairs of K-Cube
bays (i.e. 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6). If Channel 1 is selected, the feedback signal runs
through all the bays - see Fig. 5.5.
Fig. 5.5 Hub Analog Input Channels
Only certain position ali gner and piezo cube arrang ements allow the system to
function correctly. Furthermore, the setting for the
Analogue Input Mode
parameter in
the piezo settings panel, depends on the bays in which the piezo and position aligner
units are fitted. The various bay options, and their associated
Analogue Input Source
settings are described in Fig. 5.6.
5.3.4
Wiring and Software Settings - Off Hub Operation
Using the KCH601 hub greatly simplifies system wiring because the hub provides all
the necessary power, signal and USB comms connections to all controller cubes.
However, for certain applications it may be convenient to set up the system without
using a KCH601 hub, with hard wired electrical connections via th e rear panel
terminals and power supply and USB connections for each individual unit.
In this case, the procedure is as detailed in Section 4.6.2. but the ‘
Analogue Input
Mode
parameter in the piezo settings panel should be set to
‘External SMA Signal
’.
Note
When the XDIFF and YDIFF signals are routed via the hub, the YDIFF
signal is routed via Channel 1 and XDIFF is routed via channel 2. It is
important to set correctly the hub channels for the associated piezo
controllers and to make correct connections to the X-axis and Y-axis
piezo actuators.
