Inspections
Pre-operation Inspection
o
Be sure that the operator’s, safety and
responsibilities manuals are complete, legible
and in the storage container located on the
machine.
o
Be sure that all decals are legible and in place.
See Decals section.
o
Check for hydraulic oil leaks and proper oil level.
Add oil if needed. See Maintenance section.
o
Check for battery fluid leaks and proper fluid
level. Add distilled water if needed. See
Maintenance section.
o
Check for proper tire pressure and lug nut
torque. Add air to tires if needed. See
Maintenance section.
o
Check for engine oil leaks and proper fuel and
fluid levels. Add fuel and oil if needed. See
Maintenance section.
Check the following components for areas for
damage, improperly installed or missing parts and
unauthorized modifications:
o
Electrical components, wiring and
electrical cables
o
Hydraulic power unit, reservoir, hoses,
fittings, cylinders and manifolds.
o
Platform, tower, turntable, scissor stack
structures, their components and wear
pads
o
Tires and wheels
o
Trailer lights and reflectors
o
Parking brake, and electric braking system
(including the breakaway system)
o
Drive wheel and motor
o
Outriggers and wheels
o
Limit switches
o
Pins, nuts, bolts and other fasteners
o
Hitch components
o
Intercom system
o
Safety chains
o
Engines their fuel systems and related
components
o
Axle components
o
Personal protective devices
Check entire machine for:
o
Cracks in welds or structural components
o
Excessive rust, corrosion or oxidation
o
Dents or damage to machine
o
Be sure that all structural and other critical
components are present and all associated
fasteners and pins are in place and properly
tightened.
o
After you complete your inspection, be sure that
all compartment covers are in place and
latched.
o
Be sure that all occupants of the platform(s)
wear appropriate personal safety equipment for
the conditions, including the environment in
which the mobile unit will be operated.
