Appendix C: Optical Mount Removal and
Replacement
This appendix provides the procedures to remove and replace the optical mounts for a
NIRvana HS.
NOTE:
The remove and replace procedures are identical for the C-
and Spectroscopy optical mounts.
The following tools are required:
• 7/64-inch Hex Drive;
• 7/64-inch Torque Drive.
Perform the following procedure to remove the installed optical mount:
WARNING!
Before proceeding with this procedure, verify that the
NIRvana HS has been disconnected from all power sources
as well as the host computer.
CAUTION!
!
Removing the optical mount from the NIRvana HS exposes
static-sensitive internal components. Always perform this
procedure on a grounded workstation while wearing a
personal grounding strap.
1. Carefully place the NIRvana HS on a grounded workstation with the optical mount
facing up and the bottom of the camera facing you.
NOTE:
The bottom of the camera can be identified by a blue stripe
running along its length, as well as the oblong raised area on
the edge of the optical mount.

NOTE:
Figure C-1 illustrates a C-Mount installed. The Spectroscopy
Mount has the same raised area on it.
