External Coolant Circulator
NIRvana HS cameras are supplied with mating connectors for liquid cooling operation.
The connectors for liquid cooling operation are designed for 1/4” ID hose and attach to
the coolant ports located on the side of the camera.
Similar to air-cooled applications, circulating coolant removes heat that has been
produced by the Peltier device. The primary advantage of circulating coolant is that it
enables vibration-free data acquisition. For the circulating coolant to function properly,
free air circulation must be maintained between the sides of the coolant circulator and
the laboratory atmosphere.
The coolant circulator can be any commercially available circulator that is capable of
continuously pumping a 50:50 mixture of room temperature (23°C) water and ethylene
glycol at a rate of 2 liters per minute. NIRvana HSRefer to
, on page 81 for additional information. If desired, contact
Teledyne Princeton Instruments for additional recommendations. Refer to
on page 100 for complete information.
CAUTION!
!
Never set the coolant temperature below the dew point.
Coolant temperature should not be below the dew point of the ambient air. Internal
condensation caused by operation below the dew point may damage the camera and
will void the warranty. Additionally, the NIRvana HS monitors its internal temperature
and will automatically restart its fan regardless of the software settings if it senses
excessive internal heat buildup.
2.1.3.3
Coolant Ports
NIRvana HS cameras are equipped with cooling ports that allow it to be connected to
an external coolant circulator. As is the case with circulating air, circulating coolant
removes heat produced by the camera. This means of heat removal is designed for
vibration-free data acquisition. For the circulating coolant to function properly, free air
circulation must be maintained between the sides of the external circulator and the
laboratory atmosphere.
WARNING!
NEVER apply negative pressure to the liquid circulator
fittings on the NIRvana HS camera. Doing so may
permanently damage the camera.
CAUTION!
!
The wetted areas of the NIRvana HS heat exchanger and
fittings are nickel plated.
