Chapter 8: Readout
This chapter discusses topics related to the reading out of data that have been acquired
by a NIRvana HS camera.
8.1 Modes
NIRvana HS supports two Readout Modes:
• The first and most common mode is Full Frame Readout, also referred to as
Integrate Then Read (ITR). This is the default Readout Mode for the NIRvana HS.
• The second mode is Expose During Readout, or Integrate While Read (IWR).
Following integration, acquired data must be read out.
NOTE:
Integration Time is the Exposure Time, the period of time
during which the sensor is actively collecting incoming
signal.
Readout is the process of transferring the data collected
during integration.
Depending upon experiment conditions and requirements, users should select the most
appropriate mode:
• Full Frame Readout (ITR) provides the lowest noise readout;
• Expose During Readout (IWR) provides the fastest Frame Rate.
In LightField, Readout Mode is configured on the Readout expander via the Mode
parameter. See
Figure 8-1 .

Readout rates are determined by the camera’s clocking frequency and the camera’s
resolution. The NIRvana HS provides three clock frequencies:
• 3.125 MHz;
• 12.5 MHz;
• 25 MHz.
