5 . Check In p u t C oupling

a. Set both VOLTS/DIV switches to 50-mV.

b. Set the calibration generator to produce a 200-mV

standard-amplitude signal.

c. Position the bottom o f the signal on the center hori

zontal graticule line using the Channel 2 POSITION control.

d. Set the Channel 2 input coupling switch to AC.

e. CHECK—Display is centered about the center hori

zontal graticule line.

f. Set the VE R TIC A L MODE switch to CH 1 and move

the input signal from the CH 2 OR Y input connector to
the CH 1 OR X input connector.

g. Repeat parts c through e fo r Channel 1.

6. C heck A L T and C H O P O peration

a. Set:

b. CHECK-Display alternates between the Channel 1

and Channel 2 displays. If necessary, use both POSITION

displayed simultaneously.

b. Center the trace on the center horizontal graticule

line using the Channel 1 POSITION control.

c. Rotate the CH 1 VO LTS /D IV Variable control

counterclockwise through its fu ll range.

d. CHECK—That the trace does not shift more than 2.5

divisions.

e. Return the CH 1 VO LTS /D IV Variable control to

its CAL detent.

f. Set the V E R TIC A L MODE switch to CH 2.

g. Repeat parts b through e fo r Channel 2.

8 . A d ju st In v e rt Balance (R 2 6 4 )

a. Set the CH 2 VO LTS /D IV switch to 20 mV.

b. Center the trace on the center horizontal graticule

line using the Channel 2 POSITION control.

c. Push in the IN VER T button.

d. ADJUST—Invert Bal (R264) to position the trace

on the center horizontal graticule line.

e. Return the INVERT button to Normal (button out).

f. Repeat parts c through e u ntil there is no trace shift

when switching the INVERT button between Invert and

Normal.

9. A d ju st Trigger Balance (R 1 5 4 )

a. Set the I NT switch to CH 2.

b. Connect the digital voltmeter low lead to chassis

ground (TP501) and the volts lead to pin 16 o f U421; note
the voltage reading fo r use in part d.

c. Set the I NT switch to CH 1.

d. ADJUST—Ch 1/Ch 2 Balance (R154) so that the

voltage reading is the same as that obtained in part b.
