About Jumpers and Resistor Packs
SCSI bus ID and terminator power are set or configured using one or both of the
following methods:
•
Installing or removing jumpers on pin blocks
•
Installing or removing resistor packs
The following paragraphs describe the mechanics of how to install jumpers, and
remove and install resistor packs. Configuration information specific to your
model is contained in “Setting SCSI ID and Termination Power” in this appendix.
Setting Jumpers
Some models contain pin blocks on which jumpers can be installed. Installing a
jumper over two pins establishes electrical connectivity between the pins, setting
those pins “ON.” Figure 6 shows how a jumper is installed over two pins. A
jumper can be stored by placing it over just one of the two pins (NOT
INSTALLED in Figure 6), leaving those pins “OFF.”

Installing/Removing Resistor Packs
QIC drives are equipped with resistor packs that provide termination for the SCSI
bus. If your QIC drive is not the last device installed on the SCSI bus, the resistor
packs must be removed.
