with the metal plate to the right, and the tape door and write protect switch down.
Then push the cartridge into the drive and continue pushing until you hear and
feel a distinct click. Quickly release the cartridge and it will slide out partially to
the head docking position. The cartridge retainer will be visible at the lower left
corner of the cartridge.
NOTE: When loading a cartridge, release the cartridge quickly. Releasing the
cartridge slowly prevents proper operation of the loading mechanism. The cartridge
must be placed firmly in the drive in order for the head assembly to be properly
positioned for read/write operations.

Removing a Cartridge
When operations on a data cartridge are completed, the cartridge can be removed
from the drive.
CAUTION: Do not remove the data cartridge if the
activity LED indicator is on or if the drive is running,
moving the tape. Doing so can damage the drive or the
tape and result in loss of data.
To remove the cartridge, press in on the cartridge until it moves no further and
you hear and feel a distinct click; then release the cartridge. The tape drive will
automatically position the cartridge for easy removal. Remove the cartridge from
the drive, place it in a cartridge case and store in a safe place.
