Name
field correspond to the name of your variable. It must be unique and different from CB, CB1,
CB2 and VSHARED. If you edit an existing variable this field is grey as you cannot modify it.
Length
field correspond to the number of characters of the variable. If the value of the entered
variable is longer than
Length
, it will be shortened (cut) to the number of characters of
Length
.
Modifiable
field defines if a Production User can modify the variable. If
modifiable
is set to
No
, the
following field, Forcing
is not reachable.
Forcing
field allows changing the value of variable at each marking. It is then compulsory to enter a
value at each marking.
Value field is the actual value of the variable.
CB variables (CB, CB1 and CB2) settings present an additional field:
The allocation allows to define the way CB variables are fed when more than one are used.
Sequence: Variables are fed in the order they are scanned. The firs scan feed CB, the second
CB1 and the third CB2.
Length: bar code length corresponds to a variable length and the variable is fed with the read
content.
The maximum number of CB variables is 10 (CB, CB1… CB9).
The maximum number of serial number and variables accumulated in a file is 50.
If a variable is forced and non modifiable, it will be filled using a command via the RS232 serial link or
using a handheld scanner.
Variable value may be truncated using a special coding in the marking line. Insert code #AA,BB# next
variable code in the marking line where AA stands for the index of the first character used and BB the
last.
For example, to use only the third to the eighth characters from variable VAR value, the marking line
would be
As the variable VAR contain the text
ABCDEFGHIJKLMN,
the string
CDEFGH
will be marked.
If the variable contained separators, for example a slash “/”, can be cut them up in blocks with the
code
#S,AA#.
If the value of the CB variable is 123/456/789, you can get the second block with the following line.
