Max. H.R. (Maximum Heart Rate)
The maximum heart rate is the maximum number of heart beats that a person can reach with
maximum exercise intensity. The theoretical figure is calculated as (0 – age).
Anaerobic H.R. - Anaerobic power
The anaerobic heart rate represents the exercise intensity beyond which the body produces
a quantity of lactic acid greater than that which can be reused as a source of energy.
P.I. - Performance index
For a summary of the workout performed, the performance index is given by the ratio of
average intensity of the workload and the average of the heart rate values detected during the
exercise, expressed as a percentage of the maximum theoretical heart rate (max. theoretical
H.R. = 0 – age).
METS
MET is the metabolic unit of oxygen consumption at rest; it is approximately .5 mlO
/kg/min.
Max VO2 - Maximum aerobic capacity
The maximum aerobic capacity is equivalent to the maximum quantity of oxygen that the
body can be stimulated to extract from the air breathed in and then transport and use at
tissue level.
