1.4.2.4 ENVIRONMENT FACTORS
The existence of the following factors
may preclude the use of safety mat
systems in particular applications:
(a)
r isk of injur y fr om ther mal or
other radiation.
(b)
a tendency for the machine to
eject materials or components.
(c)
a need for heavy vehicles to
frequently enter the dangerous area.
(d)
continuous or repeated immer sion
in water or other fluids.
(e)
exposur e to damage due to
droppage of heavy or sharp objects.
(f)
exposur e to spillage of hot and/or
solidifying substances.
(g)
exposur e to spillage of aggr essive
chemicals.
Consult Tapeswitch or your Tapeswitch
agent if in doubt.
1.5 STANDARDS AND SAFETY
1.5.1 GENERAL
Tapeswitch CKP/S1 safety mat systems
have been designed to meet the
requirements of the European Standard
EN 13856
-
1 "Safety of Machinery.
Presssure
-
sensitive protective device.
General principles for the design and
testing of pressure
-
sensitive mats and
floors".
They also conform to Performance
Level PLd of EN13849
-
1 "Safety of
machinery.
Safety
-
related parts of
control systems. General principles for
design" when used with a Tapeswitch
PRSU/4 control unit. In this case the
probability of dangerous failures per
hour, PFHd , is 1.03 x 10
-

As a component only, the B
10d
lifespan
value for the mat sensor is 4.0 x 10

cycles.
